Did you know there are THREE WAYS to Volunteer at The Legendary Blue Horizon?
Campaign Volunteers- Assist NIA KUUMBA with its capital campaign to restore and maintain this SAVE AMERICA'S TREASURE.
Professional Volunteers - Persons who have at least a bachelor's degree in the social services, education, business and finance, computers and the arts can conduct seminars / trainings for our students. We often take our programs into both the high schools and colleges in the Delaware Valley Area. Our program looks for placements for our students so that they can continue to work on their job skills before seeking full employment. Many of our students need mentoring and look to us to provide it.
Community Volunteers - Persons who are knowledgeable about the community are welcome to work with the students and elderly to provide them with a clear understanding of their environment, issues they may face and how to overcome these issues. They also assist caregivers with information and referrals as well as other office duties.
Students Volunteers - Students from local colleges and universities who have been referred by their programs may volunteer in conjunction with either their current or past Blue Horizon student projects or their own personal interest with the approval of NIA KUUMBA's administration and the college or university. We have student placements from Temple University's Fox Business School, School of Tourism and Hospitality-Sports Management and the School of Social Administration. We also have placements from University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and the School of Social Work. Other Universities include Rosemont College, University of the Arts, Drexel and LaSalle Universities.
